FRXpert Software

 

The FRXpert Software makes flow chemistry easy by calculating the flow rates, timings and quantities of reagents required.  It also helps by giving a customised check list of tasks to perform and offering suggestions on how to resolve common problems.

The FRXpert Software is “wizard” style i.e. it guides the user through the task by having a number of steps that can be navigated by using the “Next” or “Previous” buttons.

There are three steps:

Step 1 – Enter the information required
Step 2 – Receive the calculated flow rates
Step 3 – Run the experiment

In Step 1 the FRXpert Software, the user enters the following information:

Apparatus (by selecting from a pre-configured list)
Reaction time
Reaction temperature (for reference only)
Volumes (of reactor, sample loops and connecting pipes)
Reagent concentrations
Equivalents of reagents to be used
Amount to collect

In Step 2, the software calculates:

What volume of each reagent solution will be required
The flow rates to set on the pumps
When to start collecting product
When to stop colleting product

In Step 3 the following is displayed:

A customised checklist of tasks to perform
A countdown timer showing when to start and stop collection

The FRXpert Software does not control the apparatus but allows the user to think about the chemistry and the experiment rather than the maths of flow chemistry.
