The FLLEX module enables Flow Liquid-Liquid Extraction for the AFRICA automated flow chemistry system. The module is normally connected after a reaction stage so that the output stream from the reaction chip is contacted with an immiscible wash stream. After contacting the two streams are separated in the FLLEX before being collected or passing onto other processes. The liquid-liquid extraction or liquid-contacting process results in removal of unwanted compounds from the reaction mixture.

The module consists of a contactor, a separator, two optical sensors to monitor output stream purity and two back pressure regulators to accurately control fluid pressure.
