FRX - flow chemistry toolkit  FRX 300

What is the FRX300 System?

FRX300 offers all the functionality of the FRX200 and also enables online aqueous work-up with the FLLEX (Flow Liquid Liquid Extraction) Module.

The FRX300 System

The FRX300 system is supplied with 3 pumps enabling up to three inputs into a reactions or two inputs and an immiscible aqueous work-up stream.

The FLLEX module combines two immiscible phases in a mixer to give rapid partitioning, then separates the two phases as a continual flow process.  Due to the nature of the mixing, emulsions are reduced and because of the superior method of separation, solvent pairs that would not normally be used in batch work-ups are possible in the FLLEX e.g. THF/aqueous and toluene/aqueous.

Reaction optimisation and preparative synthesis are possible using a range of different reactors (a microrector, tube reactor and 4 solid-phase columns). The inclusion of solid phase columns allows solid supported reagents, scavengers and catalysts to be used.  The system also includes a Pressurisation Module, enabling operation above solvent boiling points, and a Collection Module which allows manual collection of different fractions of products as reaction conditions change.

All of the tubing required to connect the modules is provided cut to length, terminated with connectors and labelled for convenience.  Extra tubing and connectors are also supplied in the form of a Flow Tubing Starter Pack.   A Pneumatic Adaptor Pack is included in the FRX300 system to allow easy connection of the Pressurisation Module to a variety of common laboratory gas fittings.
